Side Effects of Using Aloe Vera

The aloe vera plant is intentionally a natural herb which is used for both internal and external problems like ulcers, skin rashes, burns etc. It has been used for centuries for its medicinal, health, skin care and beauty properties. Aloe vera provides number of benefits to a person and proves to be an excellent treatment for various serious diseases like infection, arthritis, constipation, insomnia, haemorrhoids, indigestion and many more.

Aloe vera is available in many forms such as creams, gels, lotions, liquid etc. All these forms are used in one or the other ways and help the person in many ways.

  • If one is taking licorice, diuretics or corticosteroids.
  • If one is taking medication with cardiac glycosides.
  • If one is having ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease.
  • If one is taking antiarrythimic medication.
  • If one have a surgery like laparotomy.

Other side effects of aloe vera include its internal usage turns the urine pink or red. One should take the advice of a health care professional before drinking the juice of aloe vera. Overdose of aloe vera can result into dehydration, stomach cramps or intestinal spasms, so one should follow the instructions for dosage while purchasing the product.

One can also have kidney problems or severe diarrhea in case of overdose of aloe vera. One can experience irregular heart beats because of reduction of potassium in the blood. The patients allergic to aloe vera or their products should not use it as it can have adverse effects on the skin.

So, aloe vera provides benefit to thousands of people but it has some unusual side effects also which should not be ignored by a person as it can have adverse effects on the skin.
