Unfortunately commercial aloe vera products have chemical additives added to keep them stable. This allows them a longer shelf life but in the process they have become less than 100% natural.
Using the natural product is always better and if you have your own aloe vera plant, than you will be able to take advantage of using your own 100% natural product. You will need to consider making aloe vera juice that will last no longer than two days in your refrigerator. Aloe vera juice shouldn’t be kept longer than one week in the refrigerator.
Filleting an aloe vera plant to create a normal dosage of 300 grams of pure aloe vera juice will need an aloe vera leaf of 400 grams from a mature aloe vera plant. The ends and the edges of the leaf are cut off. The leaf is then split in two halves and clear gel is filleted out of the peelings. Don’t contaminate this gel with the latex of the leaf, a bitter yellow juice that comes out of the peelings. Blend the aloe vera gel and add the juice of a citrus fruit, blending for two minutes.
Put the mixture in the refrigerator for two hours to settle it. It is then ready to drink. If you want, you can dilute this mixture with water or any other natural juice to bring out the unique taste.
Special tips:
Only peel one side of the leaf, cutting the edges off and use a spoon to scoop out the gooey aloe.
