What is in the Aloe Vera Plant? Aloe Vera Ingredients That Are Beneficial For Your Health

The aloe vera plant is a plant which retains water and therefore regarded as a succulent plant. A succulent plant is a perennial plant with juicy, fleshy leaves (agave, aloe) or stems (cacti, certain spurges); a special type of xero-phyte. The distinctive physical appearance of the succulent plant or succulents, is related to their ability to accumulate water in their leaves or stems and to expend the water sparingly during prolonged drought The aloe vera plant also contains many active ingredients which are beneficial for our health.

The aloe vera ingredients include 75 known active ingredients or biologically active ingredients. Also found the list aloe vera ingredients are 19 of 20 amino acids needed by the body. Eight of these 20 cannot be made by the human body. seven of these eight essential amino acids that the body cannot make, are found in the aloe vera plant. There are 20 “critical” Amino Acids in human metabolism, but the body can only make 12, the other 8 have to be obtained from food. These are:

  • Isoleucine
  • Leucine
  • Lysine
  • Methionine
  • Phenylalanine
  • Threonine
  • Valine
  • Tryptophan

The aloe vera ingredients include many enzymes that are useful to human metabolism. Enzymes are biological molecules that catalyze (i.e., increase the rates of) chemical reactions. Almost all chemical reactions in a biological cell need enzymes in order to occur at rates sufficient for life. Enzymes found in the aloe vera plant are:

  • Amylase
  • Bradykinase
  • Catalase
  • Cellulase
  • Lipase
  • Oxidase
  • Alkaline Phosphatase
  • Proteolytiase
  • Creatine Phosphokinase
  • Carboxypeptidase

Many minerals needed for the body are found in the aloe vera plant. Minerals cannot be made in the body and must be obtained in our diet. Approximately 4% of the body’s mass consists of Mineral. They are classified as trace minerals (body requires less than 100 mg/day), and major minerals (body requires more than 100 mg/day). Minerals serve three roles; provide structure in forming bones and teeth, help maintain normal heart rhythm, muscle contractility, neural conductivity, and acid-base balance, help regulate cellular metabolism by becoming part of enzymes and hormones that modulate cellular activity. Minerals found in the Aloe Vera ingredients are as follows:

  • Calcium
  • Chromium
  • Copper
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Manganese
  • Potassium
  • Phosphorous
  • Sodium
  • Zinc

Aloe vera ingredients also include many vitamins needed for the body to work properly. Vitamins are essential nutrients. Vitamins help release energy from food, help keep skin and nerves healthy, and help make red blood cells. The body needs more than a dozen different vitamins to remain healthy. vitamins that aloe vera contains include:

  • A (beta-carotene and retinol)
  • B1 (thiamine)
  • B2 ( riboflavin)
  • B3 (niacin)
  • B6 (pyridoxine)
  • B12 (cyanocobalamin)
  • C (ascorbic acid)
  • E (tocopherol)
  • Folic Acid

Salicylic Acid is found in the aloe vera plant. This is asubstance similar to aspirin that can help reduce fever and inflammation. It also contains Saponins and Sterols. Saponins are natural soapy substances that have both cleansing and antiseptic properties while Sterols are naturally occurring plant steroids with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties.

Most of us have heard of glucose and fructose which are know that the mono-saccharides. It is believed that the more complex long-chain sugars are the poly-saccharides give Aloe Vera its unique healing and immuno-stimulating properties.

Also contained in aloe vera ingredients is Lignin. This gives Aloe Vera its penetrating powers, but is not considered to have any other benefit.
